Laura Goes Way Beyond a Cleanse

LAURA CAPES TERRY
Marketing Director, Push Pedal Pull
Hobbies: Running around Austin with my 2 year old son

NEW FAVORITE FOODS
This breakfast is an energy powerhouse for me: quinoa with avocado and scrambled eggs. No better way to start the day.

FOOD  DISCOVERIES

  • Dairy: Causes congestion and sneezing
  • Gluten:  Causes bloating and breakouts
  • A glass of Green Alkalizer first thing in the morning is better than any cup of coffee or energy drink for me!

THINGS I CAN DO NOW I COULDN’T BEFORE:
I have more consistent energy throughout the day... no more need for that extra shot of caffeine in the middle of the afternoon.

I also lost 5 pounds and no longer have a bloated tummy so my clothes fit much better.

Finally, I have more skills in the kitchen! I've learned how to cook healthy, whole, clean foods for myself and my family. I'm excited that my son will grow up learning how to do it for himself too.

MORE FROM LAURA:
When I signed up for this program, it was because I just came off a week of "partying" with family to celebrate my son's 2-year birthday. Normally I'm a very clean eater so a week of eating junkie foods left me feeling yucky and depleted of valuable energy.

Since it’s a significant financial and time commitment, I took the program very seriously and followed each step of the program to a T. All I can tell you is that I got way more out of it than I expected. I joined the program to clean up my diet and gain more energy but along the way I also lost those "last 5 pounds" and my skin has never looked better! I've spent tons of money on dermatologists and fancy skin creams over the years....the biggest thing I took away from the program is that if I give my body the nutrient-rich clean/whole foods that it craves, my body does the rest.

If anyone is on the edge about whether or not to do this program, I'd tell you it's a commitment... but it's worth it. If you put yourself into it 100%, it will give back to you 10x and your life will never be the same again. - Laura

Student Scores an A+ on her TLC

Candy Cantrell
Full Time Student
Hobbies:
Traveling, Food & Wine, spending time with her dogs

Snapshot Takeaway: "I have so much more energy! I have far less digestive issues that plague me during the day, which leaves me feeling so much happier and more energetic."

New Favorite Foods
The quinoa & avocado breakfast, and Lydia's bread with apple slices and sunflower butter.

Food Discoveries
  • Nightshades: Bloating, weight gain
  • Soy: Bloating, Stomach Pain
  • Citrus: Impacts Energy Levels

More From Candy

"I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and have been plagued with digestive issues all of my life. Before beginning this program, I had to take daily digestive medicines to combat any number of tummy troubles- sometimes several times a day for a mix of different problems. After day 3 of the cleanse, I no longer had any stomach pain or bloating! I seriously could not believe it! It has been 2 months since I started the cleanse, and I still have not taken a single medication for digestion. I am amazed by that!

Having Hashimoto's makes it difficult to lose weight and during my cleanse, I lost TEN pounds, and since reintegrating have only gained 3 of those back. My weight has been consistent every day for the first time in years. Plus, I have realized that a lot of the negative feelings I was having about my body- that I thought were tied to weight- I think were actually tied to my digestive health! Since my tummy feels better, I feel better about myself!

I am a vegetarian, and before the cleanse, I thought I was eating healthy and exercising and was so frustrated by my weight and my health! I thought I was doing everything right & it wasn't working! I have since realized that there was a lot I still could learn! I am a full time student and really value education- I feel the real value of doing the Love Life Method is that I feel like I took a college course in myself, in my body, and how to keep it happy! To me, that has been priceless!

I have since reintegrated many foods back into my daily routine. Now I know what foods to avoid, if possible, and what foods I can use to reset my system and put me back on track- say after a bowl full of chips and salsa, washed down with a margarita- I know the next day, I need to repair my system & now I know how to do it!

So, not only do I feel lighter, but my purse feels lighter because its not full of antacids, anti-nausea & anti-bloating medicines!" - Candy

I am in love with the Superfood Shake. I add a half of a banana and it keeps me full for a good portion of the day! I also have to say that I'm in love with cranberry beans. Fun to cook with and filling.

I also fell in love with making tea. Having tea at night, after dinner, is still a part of my life. It nightcaps any stress in the day and relaxes me before I drift to sleep.

Food Discoveries
  • Nightshades: Swelling, fogginess, bloating
  • Spicy foods: Mild anxiety, swelling, bloating, confusion
  • Corn: Bloating, Addictive qualities

More From Annie
In the beginning, I was nervous. I hadn't had very good discipline in the past

when it came to diets and elimination cleanses, but I'm happy to report, this was unlike anything I had ever experienced. In sum, this program was one of the most hand's on, customized, supportive operations I've ever been a part of. Every day, I knew I had an arsenal of support, whether waiting for me in my inbox or within the Facebook Group. I felt encouraged daily and the amount of support I received never wavered. It is what got me through as I look back on the last three weeks.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for everything Kim, Erin, and this program has done to encourage me, push me, and motivate me. It goes without saying that I feel SO much more in control of my body, my mind and my overall level of discipline. I know what does my body good and what distracts my body from feeling its best. Its felt like a lot longer than 3 weeks, which a good feeling, There are routines and recipes I will indulge in for the rest of my life and lessons that will last a lifetime.

Onward and upward! I have the knowledge and now I can have the results whenever I need them!" - Annie

  • Cravings: "5” to “0-1”

New Favorite Foods
Breakfast has become our favorite! Now that we have incorporated more foods - our typical breakfast is quinoa, avocado, green onion, tomato, and hot sauce. So good!

Food Discoveries
I didn't have any major food intolerances - but I must say, now that my energy is up  and I feel better overall - when I do have a couple of glasses of wine, I definitely notice it the next day! I have also found that light snacks throughout the day really help keep my energy and metabolism up.

From Karen
"
Josh and I really enjoyed this program. The structure of it (and treating our bodies like a scientific experiment) really helped with our success. There were definitely ays that we were "h'angry," but luckily we tended to be offset from each other. So, while one of us would be grumpy, the other could keep motivation and will power up. Part of the appeal of this program is the length of time - it set us up to create good habits with
eating.

We already incorporated some vegan meals in our diet, but now we rarely have dairy or meat (still have eggs somewhat regularly). Also, cutting out processed foods has inspired us to expand our cooking repertoire - from baking bread to making pasta and salad dressings from scratch - and we love it!” - Karen

JOSH SEGARS
GRAPHIC DESINGER

Food Rewards
  • Weight: Lost 30 pounds
  • Heartburn: "10" to "0"
  • Waking Energy: "3" to "7-8"
  • 2-4 PM Energy: "2" to "7-8"
  • Overall Energy: “5” to “8”
  • Cravings: "4" to "0"
  • Bloating: "8" to "0"
  • Mental Clarity, Focus & Memory: "3" to "7-8"
  • Sinus Congestion: "5" to "0"
  • Itchy Eyes: “5” to “0”
  • Neck Pain: “4” to “1-2”
  • Back Pain: “5” to “1-2”

New Favorite Foods
Quinoa for breakfast! My wife and I add avocado, tomato and green onion. Sometimes we spice it up with an egg cooked over-easy or some black beans. Mmmm!

Food Discoveries
  • Nuts & Coconuts: These guys are killers for me. Within just a few minutes of eating, my energy tanks and I feel anxious, light-headed and queasy. I can't believe I never noticed it before.

From Josh
"
The first two weeks were very tough for me. I was questioning the potential effectiveness of the program and was really concerned it wouldn't work for me. Week three wasn't stellar but I started seeing at least some improvement. Unfortunately, fat, salt and processed foods were still haunting me to the point that I was literally dreaming about bad foods at night! By week four I was still struggling but I felt empowered to continue, and was becoming addicted to the weight loss, foods, and new found energy. Then, after sussing out nuts and coconut as intolerant foods, everything really lit up and I finished the program on a high.

The LoveLife Method resonated with me on a personal level before ever starting the program. I loved the methodical nature of it and its focus on the individual. It never made sense to me to follow a diet designed for the masses. Sure there may be data supporting a fad diet's effectiveness for a percentage of the population, but everyone is unique. LLM's approach was geared toward the individual. Even though my wife and I completed the program together, we both found our own intolerances and nuances, and adjusted our diets accordingly. Although my results did come quickly, the LLM wasn't just a
quick fix either. It laid the groundwork for a life long diet specifically tailored to my body and my tastes.

So the program was great, but what about the dreaded rebound? Well, as I write this over a month after completing the program, I am maintaining a 30 pound weight loss, higher energy levels and fewer allergy issues. My wife and I even enjoy an occasional splurge night without much guilt because we truly enjoy healthier options and easily revert back to eating our new favorites from the program.

Kim and Erin, I can't thank you enough. The Love Life Method was a great experience that will stay with me a lifetime.” - Josh

Austin Monthly Editor-in-Chief Rocks Through SX

ERIN QUINN
Editor-in-Chief, Austin Monthly

Food Rewards
  • Weight: Down 8 pounds
  • Sleep Quality: "5" to "9"
  • Waking Energy: "3" to "8"
  • Digestive Discomfort: "7-10" to "0-2"
  • Hip Pain During Exercise: "7" to "1-1"
  • Dry Skin: "9" to "2"

Food Discoveries
  • Chicken & Fish: Optimal protein sources
  • Potatoes & Red Meat: Impact weight holding
  • Citrus: Acidic stomach

From Erin:
"
Whew! I made it. My official cleanse is done (I was down 8 pounds when I finished on March 1), but I'm still working on figuring out my food sensitivities. And, the biggest bonus of all: I made it through SXSW Interactive and Film (a feat in itself) and a vacation in Mexico with plenty of energy and no big digestive problems!

What I loved most about The Love Cleanse (read about my full journey here, here and here) is that I've been able to tailor it to my real life. While I definitely indulged on vacation—though I did avoid gluten as much as possible and focused on lots of fish, fruits and veggies—I got right back on the horse today, eating a healthy breakfast and lunch and my favorite cleanse snack in the afternoon: baby carrots dipped in sunflower seed butter. Delish!

As I mentioned before, I learned that veggies, fish and chicken work well for me, while potatoes and red meat don't. I incorporated eggs just fine, and dairy seems to work, too. (Hallelujah!) I'm going to officially test gluten soon, but until then I am avoiding beer, bread and pasta like the plague. The biggest lesson I learned from this cleanse? The reward for eating what works well for your body is feeling amazing. And feeling amazing is priceless!”

Linda Returns to Dig Deeper

LINDA ASAF
Founder of Linda Asaf Design: Austin's consistently rated top designer
Lover of Sailing and the Outdoors

Lisa's Food Rewards(as of Day 17)
  • Weight: Down 6.5 pounds
  • Sleep Quality: "4" to "8"
  • Stress: "8" to "4"
  • Congestion: "8" to "3"
  • Itchy Eyes: "8" to "1"
  • Hives: "9" to "0"
  • Skin Glow: "3" to "6"

Food Specifics

  • Prior to the Cleanse, Kim Love helped me figure out that I had sensitivity to soy, citrus and milk. I had gone without these foods for about two years much to my chagrin but at least my hives were either gone or under control. I have now successfully reintegrated citrus with no allergic reaction!!! Kim said that my body may have 'cleared' that allergy. Thank heaven! I missed margaritas and mimosas. I 'face planted' into a grapefruit the other day : )

  • The Green Juice is better for me later in the day. For some reason, it has a calming effect on me. Overall, the LLM diet has made me less irritable, more relaxed, and more upbeat. Even my friends have noticed!

From Linda:

"
I can't say enough positive things about how The LoveLife Method has helped me. I suffered from allergies and hives on my forearms and lower legs for years. I also had urticaria which is hives from pressure like a scratch or anything constricting on my body like an elastic waistband. I thought it was stress or that I might even have an auto immune disease. My allergy doctor had me on antihistamines for years and said that something had triggered a histamine response in my body that was causing all this mayhem.

Kim and the LLM helped me not only get my allergies under control but now after going through the Group Cleanse program, I may have even 'reset' my body as I no longer have an allergy to citrus (hello margaritas!) I am still reintegrating other foods but so far so good. My urticaria is gone too and even my 'cedar fever' allergies are practically non-existent.
The LoveLife Method has also taught me a whole new way of eating healthy and living. I was hesitant in the beginning thinking I would be suffering through the cleanse but it was far better than the years of suffering from ailments. I have started to feel so good that I have a new spring in my step not to mention that I've lost 7 pounds in two weeks (hello bikini!).
I don't think I'll ever go back to my old eating habits. For me, The LoveLife Method is a 'Love Lifestyle'. Thanks so much Kim! You've changed my life!”

  • Overall Energy: "4" to "9"

  • Irritability: "8.5" to "2"
  • Sinus Congestion: "8" to "3"
  • Itchy Eyes: "5" to "0"
  • Headaches: "7", 4-5x/week to "0"

New Favorite Foods:

TLC Green Juice and seeds

Food Discoveries:
  • Gluten: Causes Anxiety, Fatigue
  • Nuts: Impact Digestion
  • Citrus: Impacts Mood Levels and increases Cravings

From Stacy:

"
I started the LLM as a way to try to manage multiple "thyroid related" symptoms rather than agree to start multiple prescription medications. These symptoms were physically and psychologically draining and extremely frustrating. My Endocrinologist told me my symptoms were "normal" for people with thyroid imbalance, yet didn't really have any answers except referring me to other specialists. I had heard that some of my symptoms might be related to gluten intolerance, so as a last ditch effort, I thought I'd give LLM a try. I knew I couldn't go off gluten without help (baked goods addict). I turned to Kim and LLM for that help.

Within 10 days of starting the LLM, all of my painful, debilitating, anxiety-causing, supposedly thyroid related symptoms were gone! I am shocked and thrilled that I was able to end the cycle of helplessness I felt trying to cope with the many ill effects of gluten and other food intolerances.

The program was so straight forward, the support was so valuable and the results are truly life changing. I was advised by my doctor that to gradually stabilize my thyroid function and see some relief from my symptoms could be up to a year-long process Instead, in two months, I've learned that gluten and other foods caused many of my symptoms and, with medication, my thyroid levels are normal.

This program has helped me identify gluten and other food intolerances in a manner that has permanently altered my understanding of how what I eat affect me and my health. A great bonus on top of all the above is that I also lost weight."

Carrie Hits Her Happy

CARRIE GRIFFITHS
Account Manager, Running, Yoga, Baking, Traveling and Family Gal

Carrie's Food Bloom:
  • Waking Energy: "2" to "9"
  • 2-5PM Energy: "5" to "2"
  • Overall Energy: "5" to "8"
  • Abdominal Discomfort: "8" to "0-1"
  • Mental Clarity: "5" to "8"
  • Night Congestion: "8.5" to "0"
  • Sneezing: "4" to "0"
New Favorite Foods: TLC Green Juice, Hemp Milk, Superfood, Coconut oil and Sunbutter

Happy Foods:“Even the littlest bit of protein will brighten my mood. If I feel energy and mood declining, I just eat a handful of nuts or have a Superfood shake and I'm back to good!”

Food Bloom Saboteurs:

  • Citrus: Causes digestive issues and makes my face puffy
  • Cashews: Create digestive issues
  • Dairy: Increases hunger and causes water retention/weight gain
  • Nightshades: Disrupt sleep

From Carrie:

"I was completely amazed at how much the food I consumed had everything to do with the way I feel. The first week of detox was difficult, however, necessary to get to the amazing place I got to. By day 10 I was feeling unbelievable - my energy was a 10 from waking to 8-9pm at night. I slept like a rock every night and would wake up energized and optimistic about the day. My mental clarity and ability to focus were sharper than I could have ever imagined, day after day I was 'on', this was absolutely priceless. Another amazing 'win' was that I'm allergic to my cats, who spend their days lazily on our bed. So every night when I'd get into bed, I would start sneezing, get very congested and my eyes would itch. By about day 7 I had NO allergies in my bedroom at night. I honestly didn't believe it and thought it was just a fluke. However, when those allergies STILL haven't been back, nearly 3 months later - there is no other answer, but food!

I have been through other cleanses and food based diets over the years, however, none with coaching. Having my coach, Erin was the essential to my success. Erin was incredibly patient, and kind and knowledgeable. There were several instances where she picked up on food intolerances that I would have completely overlooked. Plus, knowing she would be watching what I ate all day made me honest and accountable. I really looked forward to her notes each day.

I know a couple of others who've been through The Love Cleanse whose experiences were completely different than mine - they had great experiences as well, just completely different. I would absolutely recommend The Love Cleanse for anyone who wants to know how they can feel and be the best they can be! It's a true investment in your self.”

From Kathy:

"I started this program as a diet - needing to lose a significant amount of weight. Instead I have discovered a way of life. I no longer crave unhealthy foods and when I am traveling I find I can't wait to get home and cook up a big batch of healthy vegetables. It is possible to travel every week and remain true to the principals of the program - yes it takes extra planning and packing, it takes commitment to finding restaurants that will honor your preferences, but it is doable! I travel almost every week all around North America and have discovered enough restaurants that will work with me. If I can't find one, I rely on the avocado, pumpkin seeds and Lydia's cereal that I take from home to get me through. The LoveLife Method"
- Kathy Kerr

*Update March 6th, 2013:
 "
I also wanted to tell you two great things about my health - I took myself off cholesterol meds last fall and was just retested and have no need to go back on meds!  Secondly my cardiologist told me that I have successfully reversed the thickening of my heart wall that was there when he first started treating me 5 years ago. He said the combination of the eating, exercise and controlling my blood pressure has made me younger :) Thanks again for helping to change my life - I am slowly getting my husband on board too. I am in town this week so we are doing a veggie reset week together!" -  Kathy

New Favorite Foods:
"I love having quinoa with a little olive oil, avocado and black beans for breakfast. Love the Superfood Snack with coconut water. Love steamed cauliflower with a little sea salt. Love substituting coconut aminos in recipes that call for soy sauce. Love green juice as a pick me up in the afternoon."

Happy Foods: "Superfood snack at midmorning helps eliminate almost all food cravings for the rest of the day.Green juice in the afternoon energizes me for the rest of my work day. Keeping sugar out of my diet reduces inflammation and keeps my joints happy."

Food Bloom Saboteurs:
  • Fruit creates bloating and digestive issues
  • Almonds create itching
  • Garlic creates incurable insomnia
  • Tomato creates sinus allergy symptoms and insomnia
  • Chili powder creates GI upset and digestive issues
  • Corn Chips create inflammation and exacerbate sinus symptoms
  • Cabbage and Brussels sprouts create joint discomfort and inflammation

From Jennifer
"I had discovered the LLM website a couple of years ago and had it in the back of my mind for a long time, before I decided to try the program. I have been completely gluten free for years and had very little soy or dairy in my diet for a long time as well, but I knew there were still some food sensitivities that I just couldn't work out on my own. My environmental allergies were so debilitating I had considered allergy shots or even leaving Austin!
I wasn't sure LLM could help me (and some of my friends were skeptical too) because I had worked so hard to clean up my diet already. There really are some things that people just don't think about, like food triggering the environmental allergy symptoms, instead of the other way around.
Within the first 10 days of the program most of my allergies had reduced so much, I realized that my environmental allergies were actually driven by food intolerances/sensitivities. 2 weeks into the program I was completely surprised that I needed almost no supplements or meds for allergies! Once I removed the offending foods, my allergies have been almost non-existent. It's fantastic to be able to breathe each morning when I wake up and for my joints to feel so good. Outside is actually a place I want to be again. I've also lost a bit of weight and my energy, mental focus and clarity is better than it has been in years. I won't lie....it's challenging to eat this way, but the benefits are so wonderful that I definitely think twice before eating something I know will trigger my allergies. LLM has taught me how good I can feel all of the time and I now have the education and knowledge to make more intelligent choices about food every day. I love that I have such a great baseline diet to go back to after periods where eating clean isn't available, and that I can get back to feeling great very quickly.
This is such a fantastic program...especially for me as I was already on the path, but I really had some missing pieces that this program put together for me!"

- Jennifer L.

Hot Love Soup Maestra gets her Cleanse on!

Katie Visco, Hot Love Soup Maestra and Community Cultivator, Lover of sharing meals over good conversation, running, being outside, laughing, asking questions, traveling, loving life, nutrition, meeting new people, growing deeper, learning new things, moving my body, and cooking for people!

Katie's Food Bloom:

  • Bloating: "7" to "0"
  • Hunger: "7" to "0-1"
  • Cravings: "5" to "0"
  • Maintained her rockstar energy levels of "8" and "9" throughout the day

New Favorite Foods:
"I absolutely love the Superfood Snack! I crave it...with coconut water! Also, I can't get enough Wild Steelhead Trout, steamed with some baby spinach! And, gotta mention that I actually crave my own Hot Love Soup! My favorite is the Cold Beet Avocado Carrot Dill with Sunflower Seeds soup...so perfect, can even add beans, and better yet, some quinoa to it for more oomph!"

Happy Foods: "A standard breakfast of gluten-free whole grains - quinoa is my fave - with olive oil, avocado, coconut manna, kelp flakes, cinnamon, cardamom, and turmeric makes me feel like I can do anything the rest of the day!!! Also, soaking beans overnight and cooking with a strip of Kombu makes all the difference in the world when trying to increase digestibility."

Food Bloom Saboteurs:
  • Red Meat: Slows down digestion
  • Tomatoes: Impact digestion
  • Garlic: Impacts digestion
  • Onions: Cause Bloating

From Katie:
"The Love Life Method program has utterly change my life. I can't speak highly enough about the clarity and knowledge it has brought into my life - mind, body and spirit. I have learned that this life-long food journey is about me, and only me. It is about how I feel, and only my unique self/body can come to conclusions, whether they be backed by dogma or science...or not. I can detach from the dogma and science and still draw conclusions, for me. My own body/mind/spirit are the only players in this game;) Thanks to the LLM coaches and program for helping me get to this understanding.

The LLM program has helped me to create more presence and peace around food. I came into this program struggling with being present and sated at social gatherings when there was so much yummy food around. I thought I had to "take care" of eating the food or else it would go to waste. Or, that I should "take advantage" of all the yummy food by eating it because when someone gives you their food, they give you their heart. How could I not eat their food? Now, I have seen a considerable change; I don't get anxious or preoccupied anymore around food because I have the newfound knowledge of what foods are best for me, and which are not. So, I am ok passing up food being served based on this knowledge and peace;)

Cravings have gone down to nearly "none" because I am learning/have learned what foods are best for me, and how GREAT I feel when eating the LLM "phase-1 way." This causes me to not want or need foods that I used to crave like sweet treats, ice cream, bread, etc. Mentally, I don't need them anymore because I know how great I feel while eating the foods that are WHOLE and way better for MY body.

LOVE IT!!!!!"

  • Skin Glow: "4" to "9"

New Favorite Foods:
I have a newfound love for roasted turnips, the LLM Superfood, quinoa, coconut products and hemp milk.

Happy Foods: Having quinoa with avocado in the morning is both satisfying and gives me the energy I need into late morning.

Intolerant Foods Discovered:
  • Citrus: This was a surprise to me! Having grown up living a mist orange orchards I never would have thought I had bad reactions to citrus... but I did! After eating citrus I become very fatigued - no good for someone like me who is constantly on the go! Now instead of using a citrus marinade I have found fun ways to use vinegars and homemade tapenades.
  • Soy: I gained 3 lbs. over night just from eating steamed edamame! I stopped eating dairy in my early 20s, so soy used to be a huge part of my diet.
  • Eggs: Digestive issues

From Sarah:

"I can't how lucky I feel to have gotten to experience the LLM! Everything is going well... It is wild to be in tune with my body and the foods I feed it.

I find that it permeates into my everyday life and that I not only communicate better but have more clarity in navigating the more sticky parts of life... Like dealing with people who are difficult!
I can truly say this is one of the best things I have ever done for myself, my family and friends! Now when people come to eat at our house they often leave with new "healthy" recipes - shocked that "good food" could be so yummy!

Living in Santa Barbara, I was not sure I would be able to complete the LLM without the aid of having Kim at arms reach. But with her daily emails, weekly phone calls and wonderful printed resources, recipes and shopping lists I was more than taken care of. We now shop for our produce almost exclusively at our local farmer's market and religiously read all labels before buying anything at the store.

Kim is:
  • Wonderful!
  • A wealth of knowledge from the most simple of questions about foods to truly understanding the science and building blocks of nutrition.
  • A great guide in a seemingly impossible task... no coffee and no refined sugars... I wasn't sure how long I could manage that and did with her help!

All I can say is thank you!"

STEPHEN TARLETON
STEPHEN'S FOOD BLOOM:
  • Weight: 21 pounds lost
  • AM Energy: "4" to "8"
  • Cravings: "7" to "0-3"
  • Cholesterol total: 182 to 142
  • HDL: 54 to 55
  • LDL: 124 to 76
  • Reduction in acid reflux/swallowing issues
“Coming into the program I had some unhealthy eating habits developed throughout my childhood in the south – lots of fried food, meat and bread, and a tendency to overeat and “clean my plate”. The LoveLife method helped me and my wife change our diets. We start our days with green juices and have eliminated processed foods, meats other than fish and caffeine.
Shifting to a better diet has led to many life improvements. My LDL (bad cholesterol) is the main one I had problems with. I have some coronary artery calcium build-up, so my doctor said I needed to keep my LDL under 100. The move from 124 to 76 is huge. I’m very excited!”

I decided to participate in the LoveLife Method because I wanted to learn more about food in general and particularly how my diet was eating was impacting my health. And that’s exactly what I got! For me, the power of the program is in the structure. It is very organized, which I like. They tell you exactly what to do (from shopping to cooking to snacking) and you track yourself closely so that any changes are immediately noticeable. It’s a real program.

One of my most surprising discoveries was that my mind worked so much better. It was awesome! I didn’t even need to take notes in meetings because my memory was fantastic. I just felt CLEAR. I didn’t even realize that my mind had been cloudy before but after I saw the difference it was pretty dramatic. An unexpected and very pleasant side effect. I highly recommend this program to everyone."

STEPHANIE LEWIS
STEPHANIE'S FOOD BLOOM:
  • Weight: 6 pounds lost
  • Cravings: “8” to “0”
  • Abdominal Pain: "6" to "0"
  • Mental Clarity: "5" to "7"
  • Puffy Eyes: "8.5" to "2"
  • Skin Glow: "3" to "6.5"

Intolerant Foods Discovered:
  • Citrus: Decreases Energy and causes puffy eyes
  • Corn & Fried Foods: Causes Abdominal Discomfort
  • Sugar: Increases Cravings
Happy Foods :)
  • Nightshades, fish, eggs, nuts, soy
  • Her Horum Slow Juicer Green Juice
"Growing up in a busy single-parent home, I was raised on Steakums, grilled-cheese sandwiches and fish sticks. Vegetables were french fries and onion rings. After a move to New York City, I stopped eating beef, poultry and pork 8 years ago and haven’t looked back. It was there I learned to embrace foods unfamiliar, and it is here I’m learning to search out the beneficial qualities of the right foods (for me).

Prior to the program my puffy eyes were becoming progressively worse, and a constant stomach rumble plagued me. And though I “thought” I ate pretty healthy, it wasn’t until challenged with Kim Love’s LoveLife Method that I truly unlocked some of my food mysteries. Citrus causes puffy eyes for me, puffy as if I’d cried myself to sleep. Fried foods and processed corn (I’ve yet to add anything other than corn chips) cause my stomach to turn. I’ve cut Mexican food (namely the chips) back from 4-5 times a week, to 3-4 times a month (avocado and black beans go a long way, baby). Using jicama instead of corn chips, when the restaurant can accommodate, has helped tremendously with my love of crunchy foods dipped in salsa. The calorie savings for dumping chips has been phenomenal.

Most of my meals are now made at home, from scratch or whole foods. When I do treat myself to a dinner out, it’s not without challenge. Not everyone can accommodate a needy gluten-free vegetarian—who won’t eat cheese and likes beer. We’re (Kim and I) still struggling a little bit with my energy levels, but her constant feedback has proven instrumental in my success thus far. Kim has referred me on to see a doctor for my energy levels, for which I'm still waiting the results. Perhaps my energy levels are not to be related to foods (thyroid or anemia). This whole process has allowed me to hone my skills at picking foods that enrich my life, rather than just fill my insides."

AL WILKES

Intolerant Foods Discovered:
  • Fish: Lowers Energy
  • Chicken: Increases cravings and slightly lowers energy
  • Gluten: ‘Brings me down, especially when I’m eating really clean.”
For the last few years I'd been aware that my body responded differently to different foods. However, I had a really hard time figuring out exactly what was doing what when. This caused me a lot of stress and frustration. The LoveLife Method enabled me to figure out what to eat to make my body and mind happy.”

ERIN CUNNINGHAM
  • Weight: 17 pounds lost
  • 2-4PM Energy: "5.5" to "8"
  • Focus: "4" to "8"
  • Allergies: "8" to "1"
Intolerant Foods Discovered:
  • Citrus: Lowers Energy, Increases Runny Nose
Happy Foods :)
  • Avocado: Craving them now after convincing myself all my life that I didn't like them
  • Butternut squash: Same as avocado - went my whole life convinced that I didn't like it and now I eat it several times per week=
  • Salmon: LLM opened my eyes to the world of fish and Salmon has quickly become one of my favorites.
This program has been life altering for me. For most of my life, I've known I have food sensitivities. My father is a PA and has worked at a handful of alternative health clinics during my lifetime. One of the clinics that he worked at specialized in nutrition therapy. It was there that I was blood tested early on for food allergies. The tests there revealed that I was allergy to a small degree to wheat, yeast and milk (with a list of other much milder sensitivities). At the time, I was in high school and went on a strict diet to "lessen or eradicate" those allergies. After about a year, my food allergies were all but non-existent and I started eating like every other normal teenager. Over the next 15 years, I slowly forgot what it felt like to feel good and my allergies came back. My father continued to "preach" nutrition therapy to me but I didn't want to listen.

Enter Kim Love and the LoveLife Method. When I first heard Kim speak, it's like the light bulb went on. I'd been living a number of years feeling yuck most of the time. I felt like I lived on Tums and Pepcid AC. I was sluggish and unmotivated. I'd gained 50 pounds (over the 15 year period). Overall, I was sick and tired all the time. When Kim talked about her program and what it was all about, it completely resonated with me. We SHOULD be listening to our bodies. We SHOULD be fueling it with what's good for it (and what's good is different for everyone). It's like hearing it from a third party validated what my dad had been telling me for years.

So, thanks to my company (which helped sponsor the fee for the program), I decided to take the leap and make the commitment to myself to get healthy. What a ride it's been. The first week felt like torture. For several years prior to the program, I ate little to no vegetables. For the first week, I had to eat nothing but fruits, vegetables and beans/lentils for protein. I'm a major texture eater and have always hated the texture of beans so choking down the lentils that I ate each day for the first week was excruciating. But I persevered and made it through and by the end of the first week, I had a new appreciation for lentils and actually even started to enjoy them. The first week, I was a little spacy and not super energetic. My body was detoxing from all the crap that I'd been shoveling into it for years. About half way through that first week, I emailed Kim one morning and copied her on an audio log that I'd been keeping of my experience. The recording was of me having a breakdown. At the time, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to do the program. I wasn't able to eat ANY of the foods that I loved. I was convinced that in order to feel good, I was going to have to eat nothing but fruits, vegetables and beans for the rest of my life. Kim was so great, we chatted and she reassured me that the program wasn't about restricting your lifestyle - that it was about using your body as a barometer to discover what foods I could and couldn't tolerate - that I wouldn't have to eat that way forever - that once I discovered the foods that my body was ok with, that I'd have so much more freedom to make educated choices. If, after my testing, I wanted to eat poorly one day, that was more than ok but because of the education I would receive, I would know how I would feel the next day and why. I recommitted to the program and gutted through and I couldn't be happier that I did.

This program introduced a whole host of life changes for me. At the beginning of week two, we were allowed to introduce fish as an animal protein. Adding the fish is what made all the difference for me and my bloom. All of a sudden, I had a TON of energy and it increased each day. I had gone most of my life not liking fish due to overexposure to very "fishy" fishes early in life. Since fish was the only animal protein I had reintegrated yet, I embraced it and tried a whole bunch of different options quickly discovering that I LOVE salmon (go figure). Another addition to my week two regimen was avocado. This was another food that I'd my whole life convinced that I didn't like it. Since my options felt so limited, I decided that I might as well give them another try. What I discovered is that I not only like avocados but now I crave them and have them almost any chance I get. These two things were only a couple of the foods that I tried and discovered a like during the program. I now have a new world of foods before me.

In addition to the food changes, the program helped me discover that I enjoy cooking dinner with my husband. I've never been a cook - never enjoyed spending time in the kitchen. I always went for the easy meal. This was a hard adjustment for me but one that I now embrace. I still go for my easy meals from time to time but am now not averse to spending the time it takes to prepare a healthy meal.

The list of benefits for me from this program feel like they go on and on. I'm sleeping better, I no longer need to pop Tums and Pepcid AC, my face has cleared up (chronic acne my whole adult life), I have more energy, I have more ambition, I lost 17 pounds in 6 weeks. I feel better than I have in years. I've done so well with the program that my husband, Matt, has decided to join me and is following my eating regimen as well. He's also sleeping better, chewing on less Tums and has lost almost 20 pounds.

The only food to date that I've tested that I've had a discernible reaction to is citrus. I immediately deal with a runny nose and am sluggish several hours later and then the next day. There are other foods that I know I'm going to react to but to date, I've not tested them in seclusion. I'll freely admit that I've had program loyalty bumps along the way. After week 4, I had a vacation planned in Las Vegas and while there I ate wiser choices but did not adhere strictly to where I was at in the program at the time. After returning, I "reset" myself and reintegrated another food but have had other days where I ate what I wanted and paid for it. It's nice though because I always know that I can reset and get back on track and feel empowered to do so.

Overall, this program was the perfect way for me to make the lifestyle change that I knew I needed to make but just wouldn't commit to. Thank you Kim for your tireless pursuit of health and the decision you made to bring your knowledge and discoveries to the masses!"

SWAP! Steph's Tips for Success

This month’s client inspiration comes from Steph Lewis, a Hustler with Austin's flat track roller derby, The Texas Rollergirls. Currently on week 4 of her LoveLife Method Program, Steph's kitchen explorations have us doing our own grand slams and we’re excited to share Steph’s Tips with you!

A juicing aficionado, Steph (known as Scrape Myrtle on the track) already has some great habits. But she's missed her corn chips and Micheladas, a pastime she formerly enjoyed with her derby girls after intensive nights at the rink.

What’s motivating her to hold the brew? Her eye for clever replacements along with some early blooming motivation, including: colleagues stopping her in the hall to ask why she’s glowing? Oh my. Plus - improved sleep, decreased pain, a happier belly and de-puffing of some formerly puffy eyes.

Here are replacements for some of Steph’s favorites.

  • Corn Chip Replacement: Jicama--cut like steak fries--dipped into guacamole.
  • Simulated Corn Chips: Brussel Sprout leaves. Prepared like kale chips, the waxy leaves give a heartier "chip" when baked.
  • Ice Cream treat: Hold the trash, you’ll never look at overripe bananas the same. Peel, slice, place in a plastic baggie and freeze. Once they are frozen, blitz them in the food processor with a dab of cinnamon or hemp milk. Voila.
  • Juice Time Saver: Wanna juice but don’t have time? Prep your produce over the weekend--each ingredient chopped, cleaned and stored--pull them out ea/morning, juice is ready in 5 minutes flat.

THANKS STEPH!

  • Basmati Rice with avocado
  • Black beans with avocado
  • Butternut squash, beets, and Brussels sprouts
  • Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar Drink
  • Iced mint hibiscus tea

FROM CRISTINA:

I was given the chance to be a part of Kim's program through my nannying job. I struggled with excruciating back pain and stomach ailments (ulcers) throughout my twenties, and it had become the norm for me. I learned to live with this pain in my body because nothing I ever tried, worked.

Tuning into my body was a completely new experience for me. I discovered which foods help me thrive and eating has become a whole new way of life for me. I am now instantly aware when I ingest something that is not good for my body. The gluten intolerance was the biggest factor in my weight loss. I also exercise 3 to 4 times a week in order to help my body regenerate muscle and to help my core become stronger.

LoveLife Method helped changed the course of my life and helped me self-actualize into the confident, energetic, social individual I always knew I could be. I have never felt this alive and ready to take on my future goals of becoming an art teacher and a studio artist. I spent most of my young adult life struggling with depression, anxiety, and fatigue. Now, I have enough courage to let go of the past, enjoy the present moment, and to look forward with excitement into a new phase of my life. I've earned it!"

What food was keeping Ryan up at night?

CLIENT: Ryan Robinson
President, Onramp Access
Hobbies include biking, kayaking, snowboarding, and running with my dog
  • WEIGHT: Lost 15 pounds
  • NUTS: Higher anxiety/Stress levels and reduced sleep quality
  • GREEN VEGGIES: More energy and less irritability
NEW FAVORITE FOODS:
  • The Love Cleanse Green Juice
  • Quinoa and fruit for breakfast
  • Stir fry with broccoli, asparagus, snap peas, avocado, and kale
FROM RYAN:

The Love Life Method has dramatically changed my diet and my life.  I now eat a lot more green vegetables which give me more energy and make me less irritable.  I recommend the Love Life Method to everybody.

My friends used to call me a “cheese-tarian” because I was a vegetarian that didn’t eat any vegetables.  The Love Life Method caused my tastes to change in a way that I now enjoy eating a wide range of green vegetables.  More importantly, my body now craves the green vegetables.  I like to drink a glass of green juice every morning as a daily start to my healthy diet.

By eating a lot of green vegetables, I have more energy and I’m less irritable.  It’s very empowering to know how different foods affect my body and my mood. For instance, who would have thought that nuts would make me stressed out and keep me from sleeping well? If I had known how much better I could feel by making small changes to my diet, I would have done the LoveLife Method a long time ago.

I am very thankful to Kim and the LoveLife Method. As my wife and I prepare for the birth of our first child, it’s great to know that I can now set an example of a healthy diet for my daughter and I’ll have more energy to chase her around.
